In dialysis therapy, like in many other fields of medical device technology, a trend towards home based devices is emerging. The challenge about performing previously stationary therapies in uncontrolled environments is the absence of medical experts able to prosecute the treatment. This task has to be taken over to some extend by the autonomously operated devices itself. The here presented approach bases on established models of dialysis and makes them capable to estimate online the physiological development during therapy sessions.
