Assistive robots in the real world - IROS'2022 Workshop
In an era with an ageing society and a declining number of nurses, telecare gets more important by the day. Therefore, a promising technology is telemanipulation with remote control of robots. One issue with telemanipulation can be the unfamiliarity with the environment, thus leading to an extended work load. To reduce the time needed for orientating in an unknown environment, a nurse can be helped with technology. An approach for a timely decision making is with technically improved situation awareness. In this paper, we show that a better understood situation helps with accomplishing manipulation tasks in a shorter period of time compared with instances with a worse situation awareness.
