The processes of today's braiding machines have reached a complexity that can no longer be followed by humans, let alone predicted. In order to be able to produce ever new and innovative braids, computer-aided simulation and process synthesis is therefore necessary.

In Vario Braid, OFFIS is developing a transformation methodology for the heuristic, product-specific solution search for a braiding logic for novel braiding patterns. With the so-called "bobbin web synthesis", the use of the novel variable braiding machines of the company Herzog GmbH is considerably facilitated.
