At embedded world 2018, OFFIS, the ICT Centre for Industry 4.0 (IKIMUNI) in Lower Saxony, will present a demonstration of the reference platform "Industrial Control 4.0". Using IEC standard 61499, a model of a typical production task is controlled more flexibly and dynamically than is usual in traditional control technology. The seamless interaction of hardware from different manufacturers, which is only made possible by the IEC standard, is particularly noteworthy. With regard to modern production organization, the plant also demonstrates the ability to adapt to changes in the means of production. These can be, for example, additional workstations that are temporarily set up due to seasonal requirements. Another scenario that is frequently encountered is the rearrangement of individual system components, ideally without interrupting production.
