The goal is to provide proof of concept that Grid technologies are feasible for information systems integration, and to enable business users to utilise and participate in the D-Grid, facilitating a more sustainable Grid infrastructure in Germany. One technical part of BIS-Grid is to provide a WS-BPEL-based workflow engine that is based upon the Grid Middleware UNICORE 6, and that is capable to integrate stateful Web Services, so-called Grid Services.
