The design and use of information and data collections derived from the context of treatment as well as special captures, such as registers or including patient-related data require information systems which fulfil the required national and international demands for data security, data protection and other standards (medical documentation principles, Good Clinical Practice), as well as statistical and biometric methods for appropriate analysis and interpretation. The target of the “Methods of Health Services Research” group is to develop methods and tools to efficiently integrate and evaluate health relevant data for health services research.

The integration of big data volumes regarding health services research on stationary and ambulant care requires efficient data integration from heterogeneous systems which can be realized by means of established data interchange formats as well as to individual solutions. Based on standardized saved data, organizational processes and IT methods for health services research are examined and designed which allow predefined analyses on integrated data.
