Research Assistant (f/m/d) Co-Simulation for hyBit – Hydrogen economy in Bremen
The challenges of the future energy supply system are an exciting working environment and approaches to solutions can represent important contributions to the management of the energy transition. In this framework, the group "Co-Simulation of Multimodal Energy Systems" develops basic simulation methods, interfaces for the integration of available simulation tools, models for components of the energy system and processes for the simple design and efficient execution of simulation experiments.
In the project hyBit - Hydrogen for Bremen's Industrial Transformation, we are researching the development of a hydrogen economy in Bremen, which has great potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector. In the project we work together with the partners on simulations, data handling and coupling of models to make different aspects, such as economic and ecological, of this transformation investigable.
What you enable:
- Research in topics of co-simulation of (cellular) energy systems together with project partners and our internal team
- Further development of the open-source simulation tool mosaik, mainly in Python (https://gitlab.com/mosaik)
- Automation and structuring of our development processes in mosaik (CI/CD, DevOps)
- Developing software interfaces between simulation tools
- Publish scientific papers together with the project partners
What you bring to the table:
- You have successfully completed a master's degree in computer science or business informatics.
- You are interested in a PhD, in scientific work, publishing and presenting scientific results and collaborating with scientific partners.
- You are interested in software development (software architecture, interface development, programming of new components) and like to work with existing (open source) software.
- You can program object-oriented in high-level languages (e.g. Python, Java, C#, ...).
- Git, REST and Docker are not foreign words for you.
- You also enjoy learning new topics in computer science and power engineering independently.
- You have very good German and English skills (language level B2 or better) for direct coordination with industry partners and scientific exchange.
What we offer you:
- You can look forward to a working environment that is very pleasant in human terms and extremely interesting in technical terms.
- We actively support you in your further professional and scientific qualification through close cooperation with the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg. The project offers the opportunity to work on a doctoral thesis when meeting the necessary requirements.
- Work-life balance is important to us - we support this with flexible working hours, consideration of part-time options and home office, among other things.
- Tolerance, openness and equal opportunities towards people of all genders (m/f/d) are important to us.
- We would like to continue to increase the proportion of women in our workforce, which has been rising for years.
- We give preference to applications from severely disabled persons who are professionally suitable.
- Your position is limited to 24 months with the option of extension and is paid according to TV-L 13.
