Robotics is not only an exciting area of research, but also continues to drive industrial innovation, especially in manufacturing, crafts, and consumer applications. The Smart Human-Robot Collaboration research group explores interactive AI methods to enable robots to act intelligently in collaboration with humans in unstructured and novel environments in industry and crafts. Interaction is the key to successful human-robot collaboration, to learn from humans, to increase the accessibility of robotic systems, and to enable transfer to new situations.
What you enable:
You will provide technical and organizational leadership to the HRC research group and steer its strategic direction. You will prepare research proposals in national and international consortia consisting of research and industry partners and thus ensure the sustainable financing of the group. You actively promote the scientific qualification of employees, in particular in doctoral projects, in research projects and through publications. You will manage research projects and ensure their successful completion. You represent OFFIS at national and international events through presentations and publications. You work closely in the management team of the Production division and take on functions in internal committees.
What you bring to the table:
- Completed PhD in computer science, robotics, human-robot interaction or related fields.
- Extensive knowledge of human-robot collaboration design and development using emerging technologies such as AR/VR, advanced sensor modalities, 3D image processing, and machine learning demonstrated through relevant international publications and/or project work
- Knowledge of project management and project acquisition, demonstrated by successful acquisition of external funding
- Very good knowledge of German for direct coordination with medium-sized industrial partners
- Very good knowledge of English for contact with international research partners
