Abstract = {The EU-funded project UP2DATE H2020, which started in January 2020, focuses on high-performance heterogeneous embedded platforms for critical systems. As part of the project, we will develop observability and controllability solutions which provide support for online updates while ensuring safety and security for mixed-critical tasks. In this paper, we describe the rationale behind the baseline research platforms selection which will be used to develop and demonstrate the project concepts. In addition, we present a performance comparison survey to identify the most efficient candidate from the initial selection of proposed platforms.}
