The goal of eTelligence is the creation of a sustainable energy system, which optimizes the supply situation through a combination of information and communication technologies with the existing structures of the energy industry. eTelligence has both environmental as well as security and efficiency objectives. The functioning and the effectiveness of the approach will be demonstrated in the model region Cuxhaven that offers a suitable network topology and a large number of distributed generators and large consumers. There will be a regional marketplace, new tariffs, incentive programs and control systems and standardized business processes and architectures for the automation level. The transferability of the model solutions from the Cuxhaven region to other regions and the scalability up to the scale of federal level is another project goal. The tasks of OFFIS are focused primarily on the topics of integration and transaction.
Integration:
For the automation of decentralized energy producers OFFIS will apply and extend the international standard IEC 61850. To reduce the engineering and development effort and the necessary technical know-how a reference architecture is implementated in addition to the automated generation of standard interfaces. Security aspects build a horizontal layer in the architecture, with a high importance in the communication connection of distributed generators and consumers. For the integration of private producers and consumers OFFIS will develop and offer energy consulting, test it in the field experiment and verify their effects on a reduction of energy consumption.
Transaction:
The current energy market offers no possibility for the eTelligence targeted actors, to actively provide energy directly to consumers. It is therefore necessary to develop business processes enabling market participation. The eTelligence business processes are based on international standards, notably IEC 61970/61968 with the aim of higly automateded transactions. OFFIS' goal is to extend the standards for eTelligence in the processes and to achieve a high degree of automation in the generation of interfaces. Only by coupling the business and technical level a full automation is possible.
The IT standards used and developed within eTelligence are integrated in a reference architecture by OFFIS.
